Sound Sources and Procedures:
EQ-20 mainly consists of analogue synthesizer generated sounds from an old and scratched italian hifi test record. Some additional elements as diverse as white noise, digitally generated by Orm Finnendahl, and a field recording of running water I made near my hometown in the 198's were also included.

IGNITER has been entirely derived from a few clicks of a cheap electric gas igniter. No additional effects were used.
SCHALTKREIS is exclusively based on field recordings made by John Bisset and Burkhard Beins at various locations throughout Brooklyn in November 2005. Thanks to Chris Forsyth for allowing us to record the heating system of his flat.

REEL combines sounds from the same record used in EQ-20 in combination with some recordings of my current percussion material made by Guiseppe Ielasi in Milano, October 2005. This piece was conceived and completed during one long night in Rome-Trastevere.

SLOPE is a version of a live solo piece for cymbal and floortom. A recording of the original piece was used as a starting point, but was more or less abandoned during the work process. Each material was recorded seperately and then layered.

The sounds, drones and pulses in SEKANTE were recorded by two microphones placed inside a large polystyrene box, amplifying oscillations and friction sounds exerted on a 12 metre string attached to it. Later on some water was poured into the proceedings as in EQ-20, but as in all other pieces no additional effects or treatments (apart from editing and some restrained use of filters) were used.

FOR IAN CURTIS refers to the records of Joy Divison. Brief snippets from the very beginnings and endings of their songs were stretched and layered in multiple ways. Although there are no hints of the actual songs present, the specific atmosphere of their records is captured.

All music composed and edited by Burkhard Beins, Rome in July-Dec. 2005 (EQ-20, Igniter) and Jan.-March 2006 (Schaltkreis, Reel); Berlin in Jan./Feb. 2005 (For Ian Curtis), April-June (Slope) and July 2006 (Sekante).
